Owen Seafood Restaurant

It was a friend's birthday and the celebration was held at Owen Seafood Restaurant located at Turf City. The weather was pretty bad, heavy downpour and the place was rather deserted so it will be more accessible by own transport. We were seated outdoor but of course with roof over our head, it's just as cooling. Their seafood is pretty fresh, sauce used is just nice, not too salty. The pricing wise is a slightly more expensive than normal Zi Char stall.

Hogs Breath Cafe @ Chijmes

Located at the heart of Chijmes, Hogs Breath Cafe which specializes Prime Rib Steak in Australia, emphasized the juicy, mouthwatering and tender steak you can ever find. True enough, I do love their steak! They also have standard and Aussie size as choices. I will of course take the bigger one. :P

Finger Food Combo which consists of potato skins, buffalo wings, crumbed chicken tenders, salt and pepper dusted calamari with lime sweet chilli sauce and Hogs Breath honey mustard. They appeared to be quite oily, for taste wise I only like their wings and calamari.

Garlic Mushroom Prime Rib Steak - Juicy, Tender, grilled to what I want(medium rare), big portion. What can I ask for? :)

Cream Mushroom Soup - not the usual thick soup I had elsewhere, abit diluted but the taste is good. I personally like it alot.
I noticed their cafe ambiance has those country-side deco style, relax and comfortable. The staffs are friendly and polite too.

Crystal Jade Kitchen @ Toa Payoh

After an important event, we had our late lunch at the nearby Crystal Jade Kitchen @ Toa Payoh. There was no crowd on a Sunday therefore half of the place was quite empty. We had dim sum, porridge and desserts, overall is not exactly fantastic but still quite tasty though. I like their stir fry chee chong fun with dried shrimp and chilli.

Yes, this is the chee chong fun I was talking about. Nice!

Some signature porridge which contains squid

Roast duck with crispy roast pork belly rice

 Fried shrimp roll

 Fried vege puff

 Carrot cake

 Har Kau - Prawn dumplings

 Siew Mai

Molten custard bun with egg yolk and custard filling oozing out
 Mango pudding

Jelly with ginseng and dates

Pardon me if some of the names are incorrect as I've quite forgotten them since I had this last week.

Xian De Lai Specialty Hotpots and Soups @ Nex

We came across a classy looking restaurant where special looking olden dynasty style pots were placed at each table. They were used for hotpots buffet. Their normal buffet rate is $28.90++ or you can choose the $14.90++ set with limited selections from their separate menu.

The front section of the restaurant were kind of crowded so we were seated at the inner section which seem better and more cozy. Their menu varieties were simple steamboat ingredients you can find anywhere, except for their handmade items such as glue type noodles - we chose shrimp flavor, and other side dishes.

There are 4 type of soup base such as Sichuan Spicy soup, Tonkotsu soup (pork), Duck soup or Tom yum soup.
I have taken a pic of their $14.90 menu below for reference. :P

There were many different kind of sauces placed near the entrance of the restaurant for self service.

Chrysanthemum Tea
My Tonkotsu soup is here

More ingredients are here. Didn't managed to take most of them as we were busily eating and forgotten all about it! =(

Different types of vege and mushrooms.

Beef and Pork

We need to squeeze the glue type noodles into the soup to cook it before consume. Pretty fun and the taste is quite good. Imagine the noodles with shrimp taste in it.

Here's the result of the noodles.
Hmm it does look abit like tiny intestines hahaha

Let's add all our ingredients!

 My favourite beef!

Didn't manage to shoot the before image of the scallop, now it's after. :P

Kura Ramen @ Plaza Singapura

At the 4th floor of Plaza Singapura, you will see a new cluster of Japanese restaurants named as TOKYO Walker. One of them is Kura Ramen from Hokkaido. Their ramen are at affordable prices and differentiated into Red Miso, White Miso, Shoyu or Shio types, plus some side dishes.

I think their soup base is pretty rich but too salty. A little too oily. First few mouthful was quite delicious but it gets cloy after some time. The yellow noodles is springy but I still prefer Kyushu style.
