Ichiban Boshi @ Nex

Time flies, he used to be a mischievous young little boy and now he's all grown up as a suave young man! Well, I'm talking about my younger brother haha. His birthday is here so we gonna feast again hehe. Since he's craving for Japanese food, we went to Ichiban Boshi located at Nex. You can expect a queue everywhere on a Sat, so we waited for quite some time with our tummy rumbling. Thankfully we were seated at a cozy corner by the window at last which at least made the wait worthwhile. :P

Half grilled salmon

Scallops with baked cheese

Shiitake and Enoki mushroom soup. My favourite!

Forgot the name but it tastes like the tako balls.

Battered fish fillet curry with cheese set, this tastes good.

Pork Cutlet with Cheese

"Premium" beef - this is one tough meat :X

Everything is decent except for the beef. Nuff said, haha :P

L'Angolo Ristorante Italiano

This is quite an outdated post on a lunch which was meant for my belated birthday treat from boss. I still have to post it somehow despite how busy I am. This is to thank him for remembering my birthday and still offer to celebrate even though he's not feeling well on that day. We went to the nearby Italian restaurant which he recommended. Overall the food, ambience and service is very pleasant.

We ordered sparkling water.

Bread with olive oil dip.

Pumpkin soup.

This is what I have ordered - Angus beef tenderloin steak. Very tender.

What he ordered - tomato based seafood risotto. He claimed that it was very good.

Carousel

I have always wanted to try out the buffet at Carousel. Thanks to Piggy who fulfilled it on my birthday. Located at Royal Plaza on Scotts, the restaurant is just near the entrance on the left as we enter. The staffs were polite, greeted us and led us to our seats. The ambience looks romantic and cozy with warm lighting. Perfect for dates.

Warm lighting makes the place cozy isn't it?

Table setting with needed utensils. Very neat and unique.

Boston lobsters! I had quite a few of these. Fresh and succulent, love the roe inside, yes it's sinful I know.

Seafood spread. Fast refill.

Saw this giant cooked salmon among the cold seafood spread.

Sashimi and Sushi corner.

Salad corner with so many types of sauce.

We had many bowls of these. Prawn in herbal soup. You can request for the soup without those prawns too.

The bread and pastry corner.

Cooked food station.

Grilled and roasted meat section.

Some local delights like roast duck. chicken rice etc..

Pasta section.

Desserts corner. My favourite section coz everything tastes great. There are also 3 different types of fondue flavours (milk, white and dark chocolate) to choose from.

Thanks Piggy and Carousel for this sweet birthday muffin cake! This is really a very pleasant dining experience for me. :)

Swensen's @ NEX Mall (Pre-Bday version)

It has been a busy week since I updated my previous post. Thanks to all my friends and loved ones who spent my birthday with me. I'm going to share all the sumptuous meals I had throughout the days of the celebration. Have put on some weight, so sinful... :( must start my exercise soon before I go out of shape hahaha...

It has been quite awhile since I dine in Swensen's and I'm craving for their ice cream. Just nice, a per-celebration + family day. What a great evening spent. Thanks to Dad for the dinner treat hehe.

Creamy Mushroom soup served in sourdough breadbowl, flavorful shiitake soup but very little though.

Calamari Rings! One of my favourite starters.

Deep fried Mushrooms. Shiitake is my favourite mushroom, I like the crispiness on the outside while the mushroom kept its tenderness and moist in it.

Beef Stroganoff Baked rice - Dad ordered this and he likes the combination of the cheese and taste of chunky beef in it.

Ribeye Steak - Mum and I ordered this. She likes it medium well instead while I prefer medium state. The steak served was 1 state lower hence mine turns out to quite deep red but still edible though, luckily not too to the raw side. Taste wise is still alright. Typical western steak.

Beef lasagna - minced beef between layers of pasta and spinach, dipped in tomato sauce. My brother had this. Portion may be kind of little for guys but overall it was not bad. Tomato sauce can whet up one appetite.

Grilled Fish Sambal - one of our all time favourite main course in Swensen's. We ordered this extra course for sharing. Good combination.

Woohoo! My ice cream is here! Regular earthquake. I wanted to order giant portion but Mum feels it might be too much after our hearty main courses. She's right. The regular portion was just nice! Thanks goodness. 8 scoops of ice cream plus toppings. 26 flavours to choose from. :D

It was a nice dinner, however one of the things I wish to point out is the service, hope they can improve on their attentiveness. Sometime they can forget about things that you requested or simply cleared your table halfway, leaving the remaining mess there and expect you to enjoy your dessert with the unpleasant piles which they have forgotten to come back to clear.
