The Black Sheep Cafe

The Black Sheep Cafe will be closed on the 2nd week of Sep 2012 due to the chef (owner) being assigned head chef elsewhere at a prestigious new venue.

Located along Mayo Street in Little India, I'm glad to find a hidden gem which caters inexpensive French food by an Indian chef, at a unique and cozy ambience restaurant. Be sure to make reservation as the seating are limited. I noticed there are many paintings and decorations and mostly involves sheep. Well of course, looking at the name of this restaurant, obviously it should be that way haha.

Mushroom soup - I quite enjoy the lightness yet savoury taste of it instead of the usual thick type I used to drink elsewhere. However the portion is very small.

The bread which is hot from oven, goes very well with the butter.

Pan-seared Foie gras (Starter) - The size of it is relatively smaller than the normal portion elsewhere but the taste is good and has the melt in your mouth texture.

Escargots - the meat is already removed from the shell for ease of consumption. I'm not so into escargot so I find it normal or rather the sauce that comes with it could be better.

Baked Brie Cheese (Starter) - Made from unpasteurized cow's milk, unique texture which my friend thought it was actually fish with creamy taste haha.

Duck Confit served with Tangy mango relish - I always feel duck meat are tough but this dish was totally different. The skin was crispy and the meat inside is tender and delicious.

Crispy Pork Cheeks - This is one of the best for its tender texture which is accompanied with a little sweet and sour orange glaze enhancing the overall.

Tenderloin Beef Steak - Quality beef texture with the right tenderness as I set my teeth on it.

Tiramisu -  Look how pretty this is! Very light and smooth just that it could be better if the coffee flavor could be stronger.

Chocolate Fondant - This is simply great with the melt in your mouth texture and combination of warm chocolate ice cream which really lighten up your spirit right after a satisfying main course.

Some nice ornaments deco and painting which caught our attention.

Chef Ratha which is also the owner of the restaurant.

Thank you for making our dining experience a pleasant one. Will definitely be back when my craving for french food kicks in again.

Window on the Park Buffet

It was Dad's birthday and we brought him to Window on the Park for some buffet. It's located at Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre. The space area of the restaurant isn't very big, this applies to the buffet area too. Very limited varieties but quality and taste are still considered good though. Thankfully, my dad enjoyed his meal throughout especially till the back where the staff presented a complimentary birthday cake and we sang along for him.

On overall, I personally feel that the buffet is only worthwhile if there's promotion or discount with it.

Chilled Seafood corner which consists of crayfishes, prawns, clams and mussels.

Sushi and Sashimi corner. The salmon is pretty good and most were being taken before I could take a picture of it. :X

Cooked food section

Some local fare like Laksa and Rojak (DIY).

Bread and Cheese corner

Fruits and Salad station
