Fu Li Seafood @ Kang Kar Mall

Hougang being a mature estate, it's known to have lots of hidden gem delicacies.

Today we are going to Kang Kar Mall, situated beside Hougang Mall. At the first level, there is this Kopitiam foodcourt located beside the NTUC. It's always crowded during dinner however we are lucky enough to find vacant seat near the Zi Char stall which we are going to try out today.

First, one must try signature dish is their Thai fish head. Apart from those curry fish head which is common, this spicy and sour type fish head carries a different type of fragrance as it approached. I must say, their fish is really fresh as the first chew was really tender and the sweetness simply ooze out within. With its special sauce that contains acceptable level of spiciness and sourness, it blends perfectly with the fish and goes so well with rice that anyone could settle with a 2nd bowl hahaha.

Another must try dish is their sweet potato vegetables fry with sambal sauce. I just love the way they cook this vege. It may look simple but normally if it's overcooked, the vege will turn very soggy and boring. However, I can still feel its crunchiness and texture of the leaves. Together with its sambal sauce, it is so tasty. Couldn't help keep chewing on it haha.

The stall will also give you a bowl of complimentary dessert each for patronizing them - Barley with red dates. Just nice to cool off the heatiness of what we ate. ^_^

Frankly speaking, before these 2 dishes are ready, we actually ordered 'Zhui Kueh'(steamed rice cake) from a stall near the entrance as Teddie couldn't wait, he's just too hungry haha... This stall is very generous with their 'Chai Po'(chopped preserved radish) toppings so it tastes good as well. Not very oily.
