Buffet @ Ellenborough Market Cafe

Finally, it's a Friday evening and time to relax after the long exhausting work week. Have read some reviews about the buffet at Ellenborough Market Cafe hence decide to try it today with some friends.

The surrounding looks spacious and the lighting were quite dimmed. I noticed some of their chairs were either with/without sewed cushion. Luckily ours are with it and of course it's more comfortable.

There are 2 sides where few stations are located in each. We have to explore to discover another side of the main dishes which are those Peranakan dishes.

Weekend is really packed at that hour and we have got to queue for almost all station, yes it was kind of squeezy though, but what to do haha. I really enjoyed their cooked food as probably most of their marinated style suits my taste. The spread is quite alright such as seafood(Prawns, mussels, oysters, swimmer crabs) - not so fresh after all, main Peranakan dishes, crabs, duck meat, carrot cake, some fried stuff etc. They do not have Japanese station, only a small corner containing 2 dishes - raw salmon and another unknown fish. One of my favourite is the black pepper crayfish, the meat is springy, fresh and tasty, making me go back for more and more. Their beef is another favourite of mine, with the fats layer which melts in your mouth, the marinated sauce blends well with the meat.

They have quite a varieties of desserts too, regardless of hot or cold ones. For hot ones you can find things like glutinous balls, Cheng Teng, Orh Bee Muey etc, and for the cold ones are some sweet looking cakes, fruit cups, durian pengat, chocolate fondue etc.

As for their service, I certainly think they need to improve. Water were not refilled promptly, or even when customer instructs them to do so they will only refill the cup of that particular person and neglect the rest. Seems like a robot isn't it. Plates were not cleared promptly too, and normally have to wait until the table is overflowing before they appeared out of nowhere.

Overall, I did enjoyed the food and chilling session with my friends. Carrying a bloated tummy, I still have to continue a 2nd round "supper" session with a friend who still have not had her dinner due to OT after this. Oh well, I need to exercise soon! Help!
